Anubis, the Ancient Egptian God is a man with the head of a jackal (dog) and is the defender of the Esoterc Egyptian Mysteries. This amazing cold cast resin statue shows him ready to defend with a curve bladed sword common in Ancient Egypt in one had, and the Was sceptor, a symbol of Divine power, in the other. Cast in black resin and hand painted with gold, this statue is 10 inches high.
The manufacturer mistakenly calls this statue "Seth", though clearly it is Anubis.

| Anubis, Anpu | Anubis, God of the Dead, is represented with a head of a jackal (dog) or simply as a jackal. Jackals were associated with Anubis as they could be heard howling in the desert to the west of the Nile at sunset, the time when burials took place. He opened the road to the other world and presided over embalming ceremonies. After a funeral, Anubis would take the deceased by the hand and introduce him into the presence of the sovereign judges where the soul of the deceased would be weighed. Anubis was the Guardian of Offerings brought to the ceremony by heirs of the deceased and he also guarded the mummy from evil forces in the night. When the body was embalmed, a priest wearing a jackal mask acted as Anubis's representative. He also was the guardian of the Sacred Esoteric Mysteries. |

Cold-cast resin is generally for sculpture and means that the resin material is cast without the need for the extreme heat of a foundry. It holds very sharp detail when cast. Most of the major lines of figurines on the market today are made of cold cast resin. It is fragile if dropped and fractures similar to glass, usually in clean pieces which can be glued using a household super glue. |
